V.O.T.D

Don't lie to me, you didn't know who he was till Gnarls Barkely came out ( or Danger Mouse before 'The Grey Album'), you've never heard of Goodie Mob have you?

The ever afrocentric Cee-Lo Green.

And why is this my video of the day? Because I woke up to it and screamed it down the phone to the first five people who called at stupid o'clock.

MIXED RACE RELATIONS

I saw this today and she's so right, who care's. I know we can debate for hours, and everyone has an opinion on it, but simple truth is, we're all human therefore we're all family.

Colour in music should be about as irrelevant as shoe size. We all know it isn't, but it should be. I for one am glad that not all the best hip hop producers/ artists are black. The same goes for all things funky.

Open your mind and your heart will follow.

J2'O'K

Some of you may remember Roll Deep. I know, its been a while, they been around still, but you might have had to either look under some very heavy rocks or travel to one of those gigs your mates wont go to because Damian's car is on the blink and they aint doing the coach ting again till Ayia Nappa.

I have to be honest J2K wasn't really given the space to shine in the past. Blame certain 'ahem' producers (no hate). But now he's back with a very very nice video and a track with bars to match. The thing I like about J2K now is the fact that he's grown nicely (artistically... plonker) and his flow has improved. I mean, people don't know how hard it is to come from a Garage and Grime background and sound unique. It's hard trusss. Many Mc's have tried and failed to cross over into the mainstream, well 'underground main' as I like to call it. The track still has bounce and gulliness and I think it might just do ok after Ras Kwame has given it the four times over.

Don't sleep on this brea. He's not my boy, I don't know him from Adam, so your guaranteed its all impartial over this fence.

* Realease date for 'Wake Up' Ep is July 13th

Also check out Ben Peters, music video director. Very naughty stuff! If you're an artist looking to get that bizzle on your next video, pass him the pre tax funds and you'll get sorted...

WHITE CHICKS AND GANG SIGNS

We've all seen the video, some of you even peed you pants, but the message is clear, commit to it and it will look good!

DC Shoes x Standard - Admiral Hightop

And what???????

YOU DONT HAVE TO LOOK GOOD TO BE MY DJ

The best thing about David Guetta is that (speaking as a man) you can introduce him to your girl and you wouldn't have to fear about her falling for him instead of you, no matter how good his tunes are. I've been a secret fan of his for a while. I say secret because he wasn't always the king of cool and he was mostly known more overseas than in the UK or the States. And he's French.

He's current new single features Kelly and is already topping the charts. Ok, its been out for a while and I've just been lazy and concentrating on the hip hop and UK scene for too long, sorry.

As well as the new single 'When Love Takes Over' I'm also going put one of my other fav.s 'Tomorrow Can Wait' for you too, because I'm that type of guy.

Nike RT1 High 2009

very nice!

BROTHERLY LOVE

Where were you last night? Where were you when it mattered? Where were you when Little Brother came to town and showed us how to get down?

Jazz Cafe, Camden, sold out, Shay hooked mans up with a runaway ticket cause my boy had his car a little beat up and got stuck in his sticks and couldn't make it. I know I said I wouldn't say nothing on the blog but gosh, its such a sad story I had no choice.

LB came through to London last night to say happy born day to Spin Doctor (who btw was blessing us nicely on the wax). There was a support act on before they came on which I managed to catch the last few tracks from. To be honest they weren't really saying a lot and the fact they didn't know (and asked the crowd) what the capital of Hong Kong [there isn't one, its a part of China now and isn't its own country] or Bangkok [it IS the capital of Thailand] was, was not a good look for black people. A bit like when a white bredrin asked me, 'what's the capital of Africa?', waste! (Btw that actually happened, they'll probably be a bit miffed cause I told em I wouldn't out that story again for kicks, but it had to be done).

LB stormed through their big ones, did the (now obligatory) MJ tribute which turned out to be a lot less cheesy and more genuine then other's I have witnessed over the past few days. I was looking down from upstairs (obviously) and I have to say, for a duo who know they already got the love from the crowd, they do work hard to keep the energy flowing. It was super hot in there, I was sweating out like, and they, well, they did not stop moving and jumping and showing my how unfit I was, cheers. Now when Madlib came to Fabric not long ago, everyone was saying how he was too self-indulgent and it put them off the show. LB on the other hand make it always about the music and are on no 'I'm the big boy' flexes. Nice!

They are off around Europe for a bit and then I think they are back in the State's for some studio sessions and album promotional thingamajigs.

If you managed to get a freebie or a signed album on the night, congrats to you, but watch your back, yeh.

LYRICAL PLAYER PRO'S

I was going to just post my favourite, but then I thought, no chance, so here's the youtube rip of the album you can listen to.

No links needed because you should already know about it... and if you don't, then you should feel very foolish right about now.

Go buy the album, but just don't discuss it with me if you catch me out and about or I'll have to expose your lack of knowledge son!
